VISUAL THEATRE LABORATORY KOSMOS LAB
KOSMOS LAB is Lithuania’s first visual theatre laboratory, established in 2019. Each year, we open a call for professional artists to apply for the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best visual theatre makers from around the globe. An independent jury carefully selects up to 20 artists to join this transformative, three-stage project: Masterclasses, Creative Workshops, and the Showcase.
At KOSMOS LAB, we aim to experiment, explore, and see what emerges. Every year, we bring together the best mentors from around the world to inspire and challenge Lithuanian artists. The goal is not to achieve predetermined results, but to create an environment where new ideas can thrive and unexpected discoveries can unfold. We don’t set creative goals—we only provide the space for spontaneous, unrestricted experimentation. The lab is a space where artists can be excited about what they might find, and the funny thing is, something extraordinary always happens.
Advancing Visual Theatre
KOSMOS LAB is entering its sixth year, with the aim of fostering the professional development and creative expression of the younger generation of Lithuanian artists. Our commitment is to advance visual theatre and interdisciplinary art by offering these talented creators a space to explore new methods, new languages, and new forms of collaboration. Over the past six years, from over 500 request more than 100 selected Lithuanian professional performing arts creators have participated in the laboratory. learning from such global and Lithuanian professionals as Prof. Heiner Goebbels, Dr. Yaron Abulafia, Director Duda Paiva, Director Matteo Spiazzi, Director Adrian Schvarzstein, engineering theater “Akhe”, Prof. Dr. Kristupas Sabolius, Doc.
